Snaza'ist Discovery Centre
We’d like to welcome you to our discovery centre, where you can explore the history of the Similkameen people and the Mascot Gold Mine. Have fun with the interactive exhibits and be drawn back in time in the Similkameen photo gallery. Enter the theatre to watch a short film that tells the story of our people and mining in the Similkameen Valley – “From Ochre to Gold”.
At the Centre, you’ll also find feature events and hands on experiences that will expand your understanding of our history and culture. Join in as we teach basket making and traditional food preparation, or listen in on traditional Similkameen storytelling.

What is Snaza’ist?
Snaza’ist (pronounced sna-za-ee-st) is the Similkameen word for this area; it means “striped rock place”.
