Mascot Gold Mine Tours
Our 4.5-hour tour will take you to the Mascot Gold Mine, perched high on a cliff overlooking the Similkameen Valley. You will explore historic mine buildings, find out how gold was mined here and experience what it was like to live at the mine. You’ll enter the main mine tunnel for the Voices of the Mascot production.
Be Prepared!
The view will take your breath away – but the stairs might too! To access the mine site we’ll be hiking down a short dirt road and descending and ascending 589 stairs. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes or hiking boots, and bring water and snacks for the duration of the tour. There are no snacks available on the mine site.

Snaza’ist Discovery Centre
Before you visit the mine, make sure to leave time to visit the Snaza’ist Discovery Centre. Inside our exhibit hall, you can explore the history of mining in the Similkameen Valley. The Mascot Gold Mine was not the first mine here, in fact, Similkameen First Nations have been mining ochre, chert and other minerals in this valley for thousands of years. The 10-minute feature film “From Ochre to Gold” will reveal more of the story.
